Water and Walking
We all know that getting your daily water servings and keeping active throughout the day is important to a healthy lifestyle. How do you make sure you're drinking enough water and keep moving when you're generally confined to a classroom or office all day? Any practical tips for those who struggle? And, what about encouraging our students to drink water and move? What do we model?

A great way to set an example for our students is to have them see us drinking lots of water throughout the day (instead of coffee, soda, etc). We can also briefly talk about why we drink water instead of other beverages.
I was talking with a fellow teacher the other day about drinking water and the benefits on your voice. Caffiene can really dry out your vocal folds. SO, if you are losing your voice or if you voice is becoming hoarse cut out caffiene and drink more water! Teachers are at risk for vocal abuse problems. Another tip... if you have a cold this winter and you are loosing your voice it is better to try to talk than to use a whisper.
